For Cassie’s Comforting Chicken & Noodles

  • Chicken Breasts – Boneless, skinless chicken breasts work best for this recipe, but you can also use thighs for a richer flavor.
  • Frozen Egg Noodles – The frozen egg noodles make the dish hearty and flavorful. They soak up all the goodness from the chicken and broth while cooking.
  • Cream of Chicken Soup – This is the base for the creamy texture of the dish. You can use a combination of cream of chicken and cream of celery for a different flavor.
  • Butter – Adds richness and flavor to the dish.
  • Chicken Broth – The chicken broth enhances the flavor and helps keep everything moist as it cooks. Add extra if needed to thin out the broth at the end.
  • Better Than Bouillon (Optional) – A great addition for a richer chicken flavor.
  • Mixed Vegetables (Optional) – You can add some vegetables for extra nutrition and color.
  • Salt & Pepper – To taste, and add some fresh parsley at the end for garnish.

Cassie’s Comforting Chicken & Noodles

  1. Can I use different types of noodles?

You can absolutely swap out frozen egg noodles for other types of pasta, but be aware that the cooking time and texture might vary. If using regular pasta, check for doneness in the last 2 hours of cooking to ensure it’s tender.

  1. Is it okay to use pre-cooked chicken?

Yes, you can use pre-cooked chicken for this recipe. Simply shred it and add it to the Crock Pot during the last 30 minutes of cooking to allow it to soak up the flavors of the broth and soup.

  1. What if I don’t have ‘Better Than Bouillon’?

No worries! If you don’t have ‘Better Than Bouillon,’ simply omit it. The recipe will still be flavorful with the cream of chicken soup and broth. If you want a little extra depth, try adding a splash of soy sauce or more chicken broth.

  1. Can I add vegetables to the recipe?

Absolutely! You can add mixed vegetables like peas, carrots, or corn. Just toss them into the Crock Pot when you add the noodles for a nutritious and colorful boost.

  1. How can I adjust the consistency if the broth thickens too much?

If the broth becomes too thick, simply add a little more chicken broth or water towards the end of cooking. Stir it in until the soup reaches your preferred consistency. The noodles tend to absorb liquid, so this is a common adjustment!
