Ingredients:

  • For the cake:
    • 3/4 cup white sugar
    • 1/4 cup butter or shortening
    • 1 large egg
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 2 cups fresh blueberries
  • For the topping:
    • 1/2 cup white sugar
    • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1/4 cup softened butter
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
 

Directions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease an 8x8-inch baking pan.
  2. Mix the Wet Ingredients:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat together the sugar, butter, and egg with an electric mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Combine the Dry Ingredients:
    • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients in two parts, alternating with the milk, and mix briefly after each addition.
  4. Fold in the Blueberries:
    • Gently fold in the blueberries.
    • Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  5. Prepare the Topping:
    • For the topping, mix the sugar, flour, butter, and cinnamon in a small bowl using your hands until the mixture becomes crumbly.
    • Sprinkle it evenly over the cake batter.
  6. Bake the Cake:
    • Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
