These turkey burgers are one of those recipes that surprise everyone—in the best way.
Juicy, flavorful, and anything but dry, they’re topped with sweet caramelized onions and a creamy garlic aioli that takes them over the top.
They’re easy to make, come together quickly on the stovetop, and work just as well for a busy weeknight as they do for casual entertaining.
Even picky eaters and turkey-burger skeptics tend to ask for seconds—which is always the best kind of compliment.

For the Turkey Burgers
- Ground Turkey – This is the base of the burger. Using a juicy turkey blend helps keep the patties tender and flavorful instead of dry.
- Burger Buns – Sesame seed or onion rolls work best and add extra flavor and texture to the finished burger.

For the Garlic Aioli
- Mayonnaise – Creates the creamy base for the aioli.
- Garlic – Adds bold flavor and gives the sauce its signature bite.
- Kosher Salt & Black Pepper – Enhances all the flavors and balances the richness.
- Dijon Mustard – Adds a subtle tang and depth.
- Worcestershire Sauce – Brings in savory, umami notes that pair perfectly with turkey.
For the Caramelized Onions
- Butter – Adds richness and helps the onions caramelize evenly.
- Olive Oil – Prevents the butter from burning while cooking low and slow.
- Onions – When cooked slowly, they turn sweet, soft, and golden brown.
- Kosher Salt & Black Pepper – Draws out moisture and enhances the natural sweetness of the onions.

Ingredients
Juicy Turkey Burger Recipe (makes 6 large or 8 smaller turkey burgers)6 sesame seed or onion hamburger rolls Garlic Aioli: (or try our Roasted Garlic Aioli)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- Fresh ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 large onions, peeled and sliced thin
- 1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
- Fresh ground black pepper
Instructions
- Place a large skillet over medium-low heat and add the butter and olive oil. Once the butter has fully melted, add the sliced onions and toss them gently so they are evenly coated in the fat.
- Sprinkle the onions with kosher salt and black pepper. Cook on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning. When finished, the onions should be deeply golden and caramelized. Transfer them to a bowl and cover until needed.
- While the onions cook, prepare the aioli. Combine all aioli ingredients in a small bowl and stir until smooth. Set aside at room temperature until ready to assemble the burgers.
- Combine the ingredients for the turkey burgers and form the mixture into 6 large patties. Lightly coat a large skillet with non-stick cooking spray and cook the patties over medium heat for 5 minutes per side, or until the turkey is fully cooked and no longer pink in the center.
- To serve, place each turkey patty on a bun and finish with a generous spoonful of garlic aioli and a portion of the caramelized onions.

- Can I make the caramelized onions ahead of time?
Yes. The onions can be cooked up to 24 hours in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Reheat gently before serving. - How do I keep turkey burgers from drying out?
Avoid overcooking. Turkey burgers are done when they are no longer pink in the center. Cooking about 5 minutes per side over medium heat keeps them juicy. - Do I need to mix the aioli into the turkey meat?
No. The aioli is used as a topping only. Mixing it into the patties can make the burgers too soft and difficult to cook evenly. - Can I grill these turkey burgers instead of cooking them on the stovetop?
Yes. Lightly oil the patties and grill over medium heat, cooking until the turkey is fully cooked through. - What’s the easiest way to serve these burgers?
Place the cooked patty on a bun and finish with garlic aioli and caramelized onions. Serve immediately while warm for the best flavor and texture.
