For the Air Fryer Shrimp

  • Shrimp – Medium to large shrimp work best here. Clean them first if needed, and pat them dry so the seasoning sticks and they cook evenly.
  • Olive Oil or Grapeseed Oil – A little oil helps the spices coat the shrimp and keeps them tender in the air fryer.
  • Sweet Paprika or Smoked Paprika – Adds color and a warm, earthy flavor. Smoked paprika will give the shrimp a deeper, smoky note.
  • Italian Seasoning – Brings a mix of herbs that add balance and aroma without overpowering the shrimp.
  • Garlic Powder – Essential for savory depth and that classic garlic flavor.
  • Onion Powder – A subtle background flavor that rounds everything out.
  • Salt – Enhances all the spices and helps the shrimp taste bright and well-seasoned.
  • Black Pepper – Adds a bit of gentle heat and sharpness.
  • Lemon Wedges & Fresh Parsley – For serving. A squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of parsley brighten the finished dish beautifully.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb shrimp, medium to large
  • 1.5 Tbsp olive oil or grapeseed oil
  • 1/2 tsp sweet paprika or smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • To garnish: lemon wedges, fresh parsley
Instructions
  1. If the shrimp still have shells or veins, remove them first. Pat the shrimp dry so the seasoning sticks well.
  2. Preheat your air fryer to 400ºF (200ºC).
  3. In a small bowl, combine paprika, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in the olive oil to form a loose paste.
  4. Place the shrimp in a bowl and pour the mixture over them, coating each piece thoroughly.
  5. Spread the shrimp in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. If your basket is small, cook them in batches so they cook evenly.
  6. Air fry for 6 minutes at 400ºF/200ºC, flipping the shrimp halfway through.
    • Larger shrimp may need 8–9 minutes to finish cooking.
  7. Once done, squeeze a bit of lemon over the shrimp and top with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
  • Seasoning ideas: You can mix things up with cayenne, Cajun seasoning, allspice, cloves, lemon pepper, nutmeg, or cardamom.
  • How to know they’re fully cooked: Shrimp turn pink or orange and curl into a C shape. They should be firm but still tender when pierced with a fork.
  • Storage: Keeps up to 4 days in the fridge or 2 months in the freezer.

Quick 10-Minute Air Fryer Shrimp

1. Can I use frozen shrimp?

Absolutely! Frozen shrimp work just fine — just thaw them first and pat them dry. Excess moisture means they’ll steam instead of getting those gorgeous, lightly crisp edges in the air fryer.

2. How do I know when the shrimp are perfectly cooked?

Shrimp are quick little things — they turn pink/orange and curl into a gentle “C” shape when they’re ready. If they curl into a tight “O,” they’ve gone too far. (Still tasty… just not peak juicy!)

3. Do I really need to preheat the air fryer?

Yep, give it a few minutes. Preheating helps the shrimp hit that hot air fast, which means better texture, better browning, better everything.

4. Why shouldn’t I overcrowd the basket?

Because shrimp like their personal space! If you pile them up, they steam instead of air fry. A single layer = even cooking and that lovely seasoning crust. Cook in batches if you need to.

5. How do I keep the shrimp from turning rubbery?

The secret is simple: don’t overcook them. These cook in 6 minutes (8–9 for larger ones). Pat them dry, season well, and pull them out the moment they turn opaque and pink. Juicy shrimp, every time.
